 The Male Hormones 

The hypothalamus produces Gonadotrophin releasing factors which stimulate the anterior pituitary gland to produce follicle stimulating hormones (FSH) and luteinising hormone (LH). The FSH act on the seminiferous tubule to bring about production of sperm, while LH acts on the interstitial cells (Leydig) within the testes, which produce testosterone. Testosterone is responsible for secondary sex characteristics - i.e. deepening of the voice, growth of the genitalia and growth of hair on the chest pubis, axilla and face, muscle mass development, strengthening of the bones and enlargement of the penis, scrotum, testes, prostate gland and seminal vesicle and all attribute to the influence of testosterone.

Cephalopelvic Disproportion - (CPD)

  Definition   This is a disparity between the fetal head and the maternal pelvis. It means that the particular head is too big for the particular pelvis through which it must pass, it may be due to:-   ·                A contracted pelvis with a normal sized head.   ·                A normal pelvis with a large baby ,or   ·                A combination of a large baby and a contracted pelvis   Cephalopelvic disproportion cannot be diagnosed before the 36 th  week of pregnancy because before then the fetal head is too small for comparison with the pelvis but at 36 th  week the fetus would have reached its maximum size.   Disproportion There are three degrees of disproportion   ·                Minor degree: Here, the head does not engage or pass through the pelvic brim but it maybe possible to push it through the brim. The head is at the same level with the anterior boarder of the symphysis pubis. With good uterine contractions the head may be able to push through the brim.   ·
